Oregon is More Than Pinot Noir

Southern Oregon should be on every wine lovers list of must visit destinations, with a long sunny growing season and mild winters. Wine Enthusiast magazine agrees and has named Southern Oregon has one of "The 10 Best Travel Destinations" in the world!

Your day among the vines will be focused on the Applegate Valley (Jacksonville) or Bear Creek Valley (Ashland) of the Rogue Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area.) Both offer a wide variety of wines from Cabernet Sauvignon to Tempranillo to Viognier. Enjoy small-case lot wines from Family Wineries.

The climate here is drier and warmer than our neighbor to the North, the Willamette Valley. This allows us to grow many more grape varitials than they do. Yes, we have outstanding Pinot Noir as well!

Valley View Applegate

Southern Oregon Wine Country

Welcome to Southern Oregon AVA (American Viticultural Area) and our World Class wines. Ever since Peter Britt opened Oregon's first winery (Valley View in the Applegate) in the 1850's, this picturesque wine country has produced wines of upmost quality.

On your wine tour you will visit four family-owned wineries and experience their unique premium wines . Most of the wineries you will visit only distribute thru their tasting rooms, which means you won't find these premium wines in your wine shop. These finely crafted wines are waiting for you to discover on your day out in wine country.

Set in the beautiful shadow of the Siskiyou Mountains, our local vineyards thrive in this mild climate. While you're in the neighborhood you can take advantage of the many excellent restaurants and brewpubs, or take in a play at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

I own and operate Splash Wine Tours, and will be your personal wine guide for the day. With 15 years in both the Oregon and California wine business, my tours are fun and educational as you relax and enjoy a memorable day of wine tasting in this beautiful Oregon wine country. tasting wine applegate

"As editor in chief for Touring & Tasting , I've participated in countless wine tours. I had the good fortune of spending one afternoon on a tour with H. Bruce Smith and was very impressed with his knowledge and passion for wine. The tour was well planned and very informative. Since then, I have reached out to Bruce several times for his insights and perspective on wineries, wines, and wine country touring in general."
